Submission Process

1. Submit an Abstract

Our streamlined online manuscript tracking system ensures a simple and efficient submission process. To begin, submit your invited or proposed abstract—a concise written proposal outlining your chapter’s subject area and scope. The abstract should include relevant keywords and provide an overview of your chapter’s focus. The appointed editor will review your abstract to assess its alignment with the book’s theme and vision. If approved, you will be invited to submit your full chapter.

Submission Instructions:
Send your abstract to submissions@opencognovate.com.

  • For book chapters, mention the book title in the email subject.
  • For book series, mention “Series – [Topic]” in the email subject.

2. Submit Your Full Chapter for Peer Review

Once your abstract is approved, you can proceed with submitting your fully drafted chapter. Your manuscript will undergo a rigorous peer review process, during which expert reviewers will evaluate the quality, originality, and relevance of your work. You will receive detailed reviewer reports, which may include feedback and recommendations for revisions.

3. Acceptance Decision

Following peer review, your chapter will either be accepted, require revisions, or be declined based on the reviewers’ recommendations. If revisions are needed, you will have the opportunity to make the necessary improvements before resubmitting your chapter.

4. Production and Formatting

Upon acceptance, your chapter will enter the production phase. Our publishing services include:

  • Full XML typesetting
  • English language copyediting and proofreading
  • DOI assignment for easy citation and referencing
  • Web and print-ready file preparation

These services are provided at no additional cost to authors.

5. Chapter Publication Fee (CPF) Payment

Once your chapter has been accepted for publication, you, your institution, or your funder will be required to pay the Chapter Processing Charge (CPC). This fee supports the open-access publishing model, ensuring your work is freely available to a global audience.

6. Licensing and Copyright

Following CPC payment and production, your chapter will be assigned a Creative Commons (CC BY) license, ensuring unrestricted sharing, distribution, and reuse while maintaining proper attribution. Other licensing options are available upon request.

7. Online First Publication

Accepted chapters are published online immediately through our Online First system, allowing your research to be searchable, citable, and accessible via DOI without delays. This ensures rapid dissemination of your work to the global scientific community.

8. Final Book Publication and Distribution

The completed book is published and made available for open-access reading, downloading, and citation. Additional benefits include:

  • Indexing in major databases
  • Distribution via online platforms such as Perlego and MSW
  • Global print distribution through platforms like Amazon and BOD
  • Access to real-time performance metrics, including downloads, citations, and COUNTER statistics

Additional Services and Funding Support

We understand that securing open-access funding can be challenging. We offer a free support service to help you explore funding opportunities, comply with funder requirements, and apply for waivers where applicable.

Additionally, optional pre-submission editorial services are available through our publishing partners, including:
